Our Collegiate Marquês De Pombal student accommodation is nestled conveniently in the heart of Lisbon, making it an ever-popular choice for those looking for stunning studios on the doorstep of one of Europe’s most vibrant and exciting academic cities.

Whether you are heading to the city as an international student or perhaps relocating from another Portuguese location, there are all sorts of benefits of choosing Marquês De Pombal as your place of study.

In the latest feature here at Collegiate, we take a look at Marquês De Pombal and some of the awesome things you can get up to when studying at an amazing area.

Chill out in Parque Eduardo VII

One of the best things about Lisbon as a city, is that it fuses serene parks with stunning beaches and also a cosmopolitan and thriving city centre. Few parks come close to Eduardo VII when it comes to panoramic views of the city and this is just a stone’s throw away from Collegiate Marquês De Pombal

The largest park in the city, we recommend you head here to chill out in the sun, do some studying or perhaps to have a picnic with your friends. If you love your food, make sure to check out the Michelin starred Feitoria restaurant which is located on the park and regarded to be one of the very best eateries in the city.

Retail therapy at Amoreiras Shopping Centre

Let’s face it, we all love a bit of retail therapy and thankfully, Lisbon’s first shopping mall is just a short walk from Collegiate Marquês De Pombal. This complex has been a favourite amongst students and locals alike since it opened in the mid 1980’s and was actually designed by one of Lisbon’s favourite architects, Tomás Taveira

Amoreiras is now jam-packed with trendy cafes, movie theatres and of course all of the very best designer retailers you would expect from one of Europe’s most sophisticated capital cities. You should also take time to check out Amoreiras 360, which gives you a simply breath-taking view of Lisbon. Take the lift all the way to the eighteenth floor and take in all that this superb city has to offer.

Soak in the Arts at The Gulbenkian

If you’re looking to take in some art and culture during your time away from campus, then a trip to the Gulbenkian surely needs to be at the top of your to-do list.

Simply unmissable for anyone looking to learn what Portuguese contemporary art is all about, the Modern Art Centre at this museum attracts thousands of visitors every year and the gardens are also the perfect place for a picnic and to enjoy Lisbon’s almost constant sunshine. As things to do in an around Lisbon go, they don’t come much more interesting and beautiful than The Gulbenkian.

A fun day out at Jardim Zoológico

Last but certainly not least, you could head to Lisbon’s Zoo, the Jardim Zoológico. Opened in 1884, this zoo has built up quite a collection of amazing creatures over the years and you can navigate this great attraction using cable cars which are even included in the price.

There is also a children’s farm, regular feeding sessions, dolphins and a reptile house making it a fun filled day out in Lisbon, well worth the journey from Marquês De Pombal. You can find out more about the Jardim Zoológico by heading to their website where you can buy tickets and find out what’s new at this historic zoo.
